Labor Heritage Mural

The Labor Heritage Mural proudly tells the history of labor in this country on the outside walls of the Eastern Maine Labor Council Solidarity Community Center. This scene from the Labor Heritage Mural depicts some recent Maine Labor History. On March 28, 2002, members of EMLC, Food AND Medicine, and other allied organizations gathered at the Federal Building in Bangor to meet with Senators Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins. They presented symbolic gifts including a shoe, a shirt, and a 2x4 to represent the closed Saucony Shoe and Hathaway Shirt factories as well as the Costigan mill.

Our Labor Event and Mural Unveiling
