9th Annual Legislative Breakfast

March 19, 2018

On Saturday March 24, 2018, Food AND Medicine and the Eastern Maine Labor Council will join forces again to present our 9th annual Legislative Breakfast. The breakfast gives local voters a chance to hear area legislators speak on current issues important to working people and their families.

Over the years, our breakfasts have attracted a loyal following of attendees who are among the most engaged voters in Greater Bangor.

The breakfast will be held from 8:00-9:45 a.m. on Saturday, March 24 at the Solidarity Center, 20 Ivers Street (behind St. Theresa’s Catholic Church on South Main Street) in Brewer. The meal will be cooked in-house by volunteers, with food purchased from local farms and small businesses.

We’ll ask the legislators to speak briefly on these four issues:

We’ll also ask them each to speak briefly on any current legislative issue (another of these or any other) of their choice. After that, we’ll open to take questions from the floor.

Candidates are welcome to attend and have breakfast with us; they will be recognized, but will not be asked to speak so that we have enough time to hear from our current legislators and voters. The press has not been invited, so that everyone can feel comfortable to have open discussion. This is not a partisan event – we typically have bi-partisan representation both in the audience and on the panel.

Space is limited and filling up fast! RSVP is necessary to reserve your seat – please call Food AND Medicine at 989-5860, or email your RSVP to Melissa@foodandmedicine.org.

*There is a suggested minimum donation of $5/person to help cover the cost of food.

RSVP while there is still space available.
