Local legislators have been invited to the Solidarity Center on Saturday April 8, 2017, 8-10 AM, for the 8th Annual Legislative Breakfast, co-sponsored by Food AND Medicine and Eastern Maine Labor Council. A number of current legislative topics will be presented by directly impacted citizens, and the legislators are asked to provide their stance and reasoning; some discussion will take place, but it is not a debate. Presentations will be followed by a Q/A session with the audience. This event is non-partisan and will NOT have press in attendance, to encourage more open discussion.
A locally-sourced breakfast will be served; a $5 suggested donation is requested at the door to cover the cost of the food.
As of Friday, we are now at Standing Room Only – people who aren’t on the list may or may not get a seat and may not get breakfast, unless there are no-shows. Here are the issues up for discussion tomorrow:
Issues that will be presented to legislators:
- Child Care
- Public Transportation
- Minimum Wage
- Stand up for Students
- Governor’s Budget
- Right to Work for Less
There will be a Wild West style Q&A session with the audience following presentations. A more detailed synopsis and photos will be posted next week.
